Gunnar Optik’s featherweight Vaypers are a true marvel of engineering. These ultra-slim glasses are light, durable, and beautifully crafted. Unfortunately for me, they were a little small for my head and I found myself constantly adjusting them on my face; distracting when you are gaming. I passed them off to Calmay21, and haven’t seen them since. She loves them and was willing to do a review from her perspective.

I wasn’t officially part of the select few that received the Gunnar Optiks glasses for review. But after
4 hours of straight gaming I decided to steal them from Zircom. Initially I was going to use them for a
couple of rounds, but after dawning this gear I don’t think I will ever play without them.

The Vaypers are a great fit for a woman, as they are sleek and not overly
cumbersome. The shape of the glasses provides a complete line of site coverage, so I never felt like I
was getting distracted by outside light or effects around the rims. In addition, the end of the glasses fit
snuggly against the side of your head and curve slightly against your scalp. This took a little getting used
to, but the added bonus was that my headset didn’t add any pressure to my skin. The extreme level of
comfort and lightness make them perfect for not only gaming, but professional or scholastic work as
well.

The first thing I noticed is the tint (apparently common, see GSEG Dirty Money review), which made
looking outside feel like a Quentin Tarantino movie. However, most gamers these days tend to play
indoors, so the effect of the tint is minimal. In game, the tint provides an ease on the eyes by reducing
the harsh contrast of colors. I thought this might affect the game play, but it turns out that it reduces
natural TV glare and creates a more realistic and user friendly environment; which in turns increases
reaction time. Furthermore, the glasses seemed to have an amplification effect, although I’m not sure if
that is because of the lack of strain on my eyes, the tint, or actual magnification; either way it helps with
loading screens and allowed me to move my chair back a couple of feet.

From a women’s point of view, these are great stylish glasses. From a gamers point of view these are a
must have if you want to be the best of the best.
